Design Discovery
Harvard University | 2019 | Summer Course
Developed and taught studio curriculum on architectural design, theory, and history specifically geared toward students interested in pursuing careers in architecture and design. Lectures and workshops included sketching, technical drawing, model making, casting, and serial photography/animation. At the end of the program, students designed, hand-drafted, and physically modeled large-scale, demographically and environmentally sensitive centers for civic engagement for the greater Boston area.
Hand Rendering for Designers
Harvard University | 2019 | GSD J-Term Course
In this graduate J-Term course students spanning degrees in planning, technology, urban design, and computer science learned how to think, design, and communicate through hand representation. In the first module titled Abstraction, students learned how to rapidly and iteratively sketch, visually reducing complex forms and scenes to their most essential elements. In the second module titled Interaction, students learned the history and basics of color theory before putting it into practice through a watercoloring workshop covering both in situ and studio-based painting.
Careers in Design & Construction: Design Lab
Auburn University | 2010 | School of Architecture
This design lab was offered in conjunction with the Intro to Architecture course, Careers in Design & Construction, as a way of helping students to manage their rigorous daily sketching requirements and to prepare students for B.Arch. core coursework through drawing classes, model making workshops, and lectures on architecture and planning history and theory. The final project for the course and the lab was the “Beautiful Space Project” wherein students had to visually represent an ideal space from their own life experience using only objects they could find on the ground.
